61. Red Sequin Gown

Knock-off Purchased for: $170*
The picture on the right makes a thousand promises – who wouldn’t want to wear this fabulous gown to an evening event? It’s red, chic, and sparkly, so it ticks all the boxes. When one customer sent her measurements off to Herdress they had high hopes.

Red Sequin Gown @KnockOffNightmares/Facebook
Well, if high hopes means you want to get what you’ve ordered. After shelling out over £128 (around $170) they received something else entirely. Not only didn’t it fit, but it had a definite Sebastian from The Little Mermaid vibe, which probably wasn’t what she was aiming for.
62. Purple Skirt with Bow
Original Dress Price: $9.99
Original Made by: Lightinthebox
Knock-off Purchased at: N/A
Knock-off Purchased for: N/A
Let’s face it, this dress does look remarkable in the picture, but wouldn’t the incredibly low price raise some red flags to most of us? How could something be just $10 when it looks that good? There is such a thing as a bargain, but this wasn’t it.

Purple Skirt with Bow @KnockOffNightmares/Facebook
Even $10 was far too expensive for this purple skirt. The only thing dramatic about it would’ve been the reaction of the shocked customer when they opened the package. Even a dance mom couldn’t use this flimsy piece of material, but you live and learn.
63. Burgundy Ombre Gown
Original Dress Price: $60*
Original Made by: SteamPunkStop
Knock-off Purchased at: N/A
Knock-off Purchased for: N/A
You would’ve thought that online dress retailers would have learned the hard way that they can’t just sell anything to anyone and get away with it. With the wonderful world of the internet, disgruntled customers are quick to name and shame by plastering picks all over social media.

Burgandy Ombre Gown @KnockOffNightmares/Facebook
In this case, SteamPunkStop fell short of the bar when they sent out this burgundy gown that was supposed to be a US XL. Instead, it just about fit a petite 7-year-old. Not only that, but the shape was all off. Cinderella will not go to the ball in this travesty.
64. Blue Diamond Party Dress
Original Dress Price: $100*
Original Made by: DH Gate
Knock-off Purchased at: N/A
Knock-off Purchased for: N/A
DHGate is at it again with this midnight blue gown that looks stunning on the model. From the sweetheart neckline to the dazzling sparkles, it’s not hard to see why a teen would fall in love with this dress and want to wear it to prom.

Blue Diamond Party Dress @KnockOffNightmares/Facebook
Unfortunately, like so much in life, all that glitters is not gold. Sometimes it turns out to be a cheap dress with glued-on rhinestones and a price tag that doesn’t make any sense at all. In fairness to the website, the orders always arrive – but that’s where the good ends.
65. Gold Lace One Shoulder Sequined Evening Dress
Original Dress Price: $150*
Original Made by: DH Gate
Knock-off Purchased at: N/A
Knock-off Purchased for: N/A
This poor girl probably imagined walking into the party looking as fresh as a Hollywood movie star in her floor-length gold gown from DHGate. Instead, she got a truck load of disappointment in a gown that was both too long and ill-fitting.

Gold Lace One Shoulder Sequined Evening Dress @KnockOffNightmares/Facebook
It just goes to show that what you see online is never quite what it turns out to be in real life. Whether you’re buying from a trusted retailer or taking a gamble on an unknown website, you’re always running the risk of a complete and utter disaster.
66. Pink Beaded Gown
Original Dress Price: $300*
Original Made by: PromGirl
Knock-off Purchased at: RoseGirl
Knock-off Purchased for: $50*
What’s the one thing that most of us look for when it comes to a good quality dress? The material! It’s usually thick, holds its shape, and doesn’t feel like a net curtain. In this case, the original dress from PromGirl looks like a beaded wonder.

Pink Beaded Gown @KnockOffNightmares/Facebook
What arrived from RoseGirl was what looked like the lining without the beaded bodice. No one wants to walk into a room and be the most flammable thing in there. That brings an entirely new meaning to “looking fire” that just doesn’t bear comprehending.
67. Hot Coral Dress
Original Dress Price: $90*
Original Made by: AliExpress
Knock-off Purchased at: N/A
Knock-off Purchased for: N/A
AliExpress is useful for all sorts of things, but clothing isn’t one of them. When it comes to dresses and other items, this website is notorious for coming up short – in every sense of the word. In this case, a glamorous orange floor-length lace gown turned into a living nightmare that looks more like a nasty rash.

Hot Coral Dress @KnockOffNightmares/Facebook
Not only is the shape non-existent, but the white shines through much more than it does in the original photo. It makes you wonder just what trickery they get up to when they take the original photo. CGI?
68. Blue Illusion Dress
Original Dress Price: $500*
Original Made by: Ziad Nakad
Knock-off Purchased at: DHGate
Knock-off Purchased for: $190*
With a price tag of $190, it’s not really surprising that some people might think it’s worth buying from DHGate. Most sites that deliver terrible knock offs don’t charge quite as much. Sadly, this customer was mistaken. While the dress itself isn’t the worst we’ve seen, it looks nothing like the photo – which happens to be a Ziad Nakad design.

Blue Illusion Dress @KnockOffNightmares/Facebook
The original blue dress looks stunning and elegant, while the knock off is bright purple and nowhere near as form-fitting. For $190 we would expect the real thing, not this! Could it be repurposed? Maybe – but that’s not the point!
69. Sleeveless Mauve Mother of the Bride Gown
Original Dress Price: $125*
Original Made by: DHGate
Knock-off Purchased at: N/A
Knock-off Purchased for: N/A
Muted pastel colors have been all the rage for years now, so this gown is both fashionable and chic – perfect for a mother-of-the-bride. Or, so you might think. In another blunder from DHGate, the dress that turned up barely resembled the original.

Sleeveless Mauve Mother of the Bride Gown @KnockOffNightmares/Facebook
It looks more like an arts and craft project gone wrong that it does a stunning outfit to wear on your daughter’s big day. Anyone with a glue gun and some leftover material could patch this together – but that doesn’t mean they should. Put the glue gun down and back away!
70. Pink Cupcake Gown
Original Dress Price: $500*
Original Made by: Unknown
Knock-off Purchased at: GorgeousDressesOnline
Knock-off Purchased for: $75*
There is so much wrong with this knockoff that it’s difficult to know where to begin. The original dress is a beautiful, solid pink with a sweetheart neckline and lovely embellishments. The recreation falls drastically short of the bar and could barely pass as an ‘80s school project.

Pink Cupcake Gown@KnockOffNightmares/Facebook
Someone out there might think this is the best dress they’ve ever seen, but we have yet to find them. Imagine waiting for your parcel to arrive only to unwrap this. It’s a tale of woe that many online shoppers know all too well!
71. Blue and White A-Line Princess Dress
Original Dress Price: $150*
Original Made by: ShowDresses
Knock-off Purchased at: BlackPartyDresses
Knock-off Purchased for: $80*
The original dress is Alice in Wonderland meets Dorothy Gale with a modern twist, so how come what arrived looks like a child’s pantomime costume? Where is the full skirt, the lovely waist, and the great detailing on the sheer arms and bodice?

Blue and White A Line Princess Dress@KnockOffNightmares/Facebook
The true villain of the piece is the dress itself. Originally from ShowDresses, the outfit would be perfect for pageants and the like. The knock off wouldn’t be fit for a doll, let alone an important event where the wearer needs to look their best.
72. Smokey Ball Gown
Original Dress Price: $150*
Original Made by: Fashn
Knock-off Purchased at: N/A
Knock-off Purchased for: N/A
In the grand scheme of things, this could’ve been much, much worse. Does the knock off look anything like the original dress? Of course not, but it isn’t entirely ugly. It’s just very, very different. While the original is a smokey grey, the delivered product looks like a pale beige with contrasting waist detail.

Smokey Ball Gown@KnockOffNightmares/Facebook
Worse things have happened at sea – or should we say, at sew – but it doesn’t change the fact that this customer didn’t get what they ordered. No matter how much you spend, it’s a consumer’s right to get what was advertised!
73. Satin Ball Gown with Beading
Original Dress Price: $500*
Original Made by: ALYCE Paris
Knock-off Purchased at: AliExpress
Knock-off Purchased for: $80*
Every seamstress worth their salt knows that making a great dress takes time, effort, and most importantly – money. When you try to cut corners and order from a website like AliExpress, you’re never going to get the same result.

Satin Ball Gown with Beading @KnockOffNightmares/Facebook
In this case, the knock off proved to be $80 flushed down the drain. Not only was the color completely different, but the full skirt fell flatter than a pancake thanks to misplaced seams and terrible detailing. But, in its defense, at least the fit wasn’t bad! It’s important to look on the We.
74. Silver Bodycon Dress
Original Dress Price: Thousands
Original Made by: Dior
Knock-off Purchased at: Wanelo
Knock-off Purchased for: $100*
These websites might be slightly underhanded, but they’re not stupid. As soon as a celebrity wears a dress that makes the headlines, they jump on the bandwagon and peddle their own version, like this Dior gown that Marion Cotillard wore to the Met Gala.

Silver Bodycon Dress@KnockOffNightmares/Facebook
The dazzling original cost thousands and was likely custom designed – so why would anyone think they could get the same standard for around $100 from a dodgy site? We hate to say it, but this plastic fantastic knock off is probably a lesson well learned. You get what you pay for.
75. Peach Belted Maxi Dress
Original Dress Price: $45*
Original Made by: Modlily
Knock-off Purchased at: N/A
Knock-off Purchased for: N/A
Modlily has a less than sterling rep for sending out dresses that look nothing like the pictures buyers see. In this case, the beautiful flowing peach gown on the willowy model looks like the perfect outfit for any summer wedding…while the reality is something else entirely.

Peach Belted Maxi Dress@KnockOffNightmares/Facebook
It looks more like a potato sack. Was it made from the same pattern your mom used to make your angel Gabriel costume all those years ago? Nothing would surprise us at this point, considering just how incredibly dire the state of online dresses are these days.
