Including almost 1700 miles of pipe networks, the second phase ranked among the largest public works undertakings in human history. However, the exact date of this enormous project’s completion is still unknown.
One of the two pipe production plants utilized in the system’s development was damaged by air raids during the Syrian civil war in 2011, which significantly delayed the project’s construction. The ultimate project is expected to cost somewhere around $36 billion.
