In the 1980s, Combat Vehicle 90 was created with the purpose of navigating the subarctic regions of the Nordic countries. The vehicle can carry six to eight soldiers and moves easily in swamps and snow. One of the main advantages of the Combat Vehicle 90 is its multitude of configurations.

Variants of the CV90 include forward observation, armored recovery vehicles, electronic warfare, command and control, and more. These cars currently come in fifteen different versions across seven different countries. 1,280 are currently in use, and more will follow. The most recent version, the Mk IV, features state-of-the-art innovations such as a 1,000-horsepower Scania engine.
