The French Navy’s flagship, the Charles de Gaulle, was so delayed during its construction in the 1990s that it was a wonder it was finished at all. After five years of delays, it was eventually finished in 2001. It is the first surface ship to use nuclear power and the eleventh aircraft carrier in the French Navy.

Charles de Gaulle is the name of a statesman and general from France. Many different types of aircraft, such as Dassault Rafale Ms., AS532 Cougars, EC725 Caracals, and E-2C Hawkeyes, can be transported by the ship. Charles de Gaulle is equipped with the CATOBAR configuration, Aster missiles, and state-of-the-art electronics.
