Both on land and in the sea, artifacts from the Punic Wars have been discovered strewn around the combat sites. The most recent find was a bronze lion helmet discovered during an underwater treasure hunt. The helmet was discovered off the coast of Sicily by marine archaeologists, and it is thought to date back to 241 B.C. The helmet is believed to have belonged to the Roman Emperor’s personal bodyguard.
