She was one of the greatest monarchs in history, ruling the country from 51 to 30 B.C. From the Egyptian shore city of Alexandria, she guided her people. It was discovered in the late 1990s. Over twenty thousand drowned antiquities were discovered in the buried city, including columns, sphinxes, statues, and the 440-foot-tall Pharos lighthouse, which guided sailors for more than 2,000 years. Despite the fact that no gold or diamonds were discovered, some estimates put the value of the treasures from Cleopatra’s lost city at $50 million.
