The millionaire merely laughed and told her that she would have luck even though she had been warned about the curse of “hope.” But Evelyn made a mistake, and the misfortune started a few years after the stone was bought. A child passed away from a fever; a daughter killed herself; the husband lost money at gambling; they wasted all of their millions; and they passed away in a mental institution. Evelyn passed away by herself at the age of sixty, firmly refusing to give up the stone. The cursed stone is currently housed in the Smithsonian Museum because no one wanted to possess the “Hope” stone.
