After some time, the servant’s body was discovered in the forest, not far from the palace. “Sansi” was also discovered there following the autopsy; a loyal servant had eaten the stone to prevent the thieves from taking it. “Sancy” was taken during the French Revolution along with other valuable Versailles artefacts, and the Russian prince Nikolai Demidov purchased the diamond in 1828. “Sancy” is currently on display at the Louvre, where it was reunited with “Regent,” another well-known diamond from Versailles.
