“Sancy.” Despite its apparent whiteness, the pear-shaped diamond “Sancy” is actually opaline in colour. It gets its name from the French soldier Nicolas de Sancy, who went on to become France’s ambassador to Constantinople. He was the one who acquired a rare stone and then gave it to monarchs.
