31. Sprinkle Lips

Incredible make-up looks have been sweeping the internet ever since YouTube and Instagram became popular. Tons of MUA’s dazzle their followers with over-the-top designs, just like this painstakingly accurate sprinkle lip, created with tons of small beads.

Unfortunately, it’s not quite as easy to replicate these elaborate styles as some influencers might have us believe. This disgruntled girl gave it her best shot, but it looks more like a strange medical condition than a sleek make-up trend. It’s unsettling and gross in one fell swoop. It’s a hard pass from us.

32. Toddler Swing

Swings have been a firm favorite with kids since the dawn of time, providing tots with plenty of good, clean fun. There’s nothing better than a trip to the park, but one savvy parent thought they would recreate the entertainment at home.

One cut up pair of pants, a stick, and some string later and you’ve got your very own giant wedgie. It’s better to shell out $30 and buy your own swing, or just take your kids to the park and save your ego from a good bruising. We know which one we would pick!

33. The Bathroom Door Issue

Est. Cost (DIY): $70*
Bathrooms in certain places are designed to be small little hideaways rather than sprawling suites. While that’s totally understandable, there’s one thing that a bathroom needs above all else: privacy. In this case, there’s going to be a lot of red faces.

Rather than take the door off at a cost of nothing but time and effort and change the way it opens, one bright spark decided to cut a hole in it. That way, when it opens it can simply go straight over the toilet like it’s not there at all. Factor in the cost of a new door and the waste of the old one and that’s a bill of at least $70.

34. Another Bathroom Door Issue

Est. Cost (New): $275*
Est. Cost (DIY): $400*
Ask any frequenter of toilets what a bathroom should look like and you’ll get the same answer: not this. Sure, not every male bathroom-goer demands exclusive privacy –  but somehow this seems like an unwarranted alternative.

In this case, the stall has been put around the urinal when it should’ve been placed over the toilet. Each new stall costs about $275 at a minimum, but this one needs to be completely taken down and moved over, which could bring the total cost up to $400.

35. Knit Cap

Est. Cost (New): $10*

Knitting is a great hobby to have. It can while away the hours, distract you from the state of the world, and provide you with something warm and fashionable to wear. Of course, you have to be good at it to get any actual use out of what you make.

This poor crafter decided to take a stab at a simple hat, only to discover that there’s a slight problem. Hats only work if they don’t have giant gaping holes in them. You learn something new every day. Yarn and knitting needles aren’t all that cheap to buy, so this was a knitting nightmare that won’t be forgotten any time soon.

36. Kitchen Tile Roof

Est. Cost (New): $2,000-$10,000*
Est. Cost (DIY): $100*
Homeowners know that as soon as they sign on the dotted line, their lives are about to get a little more expensive. Renting isn’t exactly cheap, but at least all major repairs come out of the landlord’s pocket. Getting a new roof fitted can cost thousands of dollars – unless you own this home.

Rather than go all out and get actual roofing tiles, someone decided to go down to Home Depot and pick up some vinyl kitchen flooring. You have to admire just how ingenious it is, even if it’s never going to last more than a hot minute.

37. Electric Table Boat

Est. Cost (New): $1,000+*
Est. Cost (DIY): $100*
Boats aren’t cheap, even if they are just small buoys designed to shuttle people across the water. So, while this DIY fix is about as stupid as it gets, it’s understandable. If you live in a place where water travel is essential, then why not get a dining table, turn it upside down and stick a motor on it?

It’s not ideal, but if you don’t have a few hundred bucks kicking around then it gets the job done. Plus, you don’t have to worry about making lunch reservations because you’re already sitting in your very own portable restaurant.

38. Faucet Plug

Est. Cost (New): $200*
Est. Cost (DIY): Immeasurable
There are many things about this picture that don’t sit right. For a start, the faucet doesn’t have a hot and cold option, just one singular knob. That’s an issue for anyone looking to get their most out of their water supply.

Secondly, there is no sink to catch any overflow, just a live power socket. There are more problems with this than we can possibly recount, but why don’t we start with the obvious issue. Anyone brave enough to turn this faucet on is going to buy themselves a one-way ticket to the ER.

39. Scuba Gas Tank

Est. Cost (New): $50-$100*
Est. Cost (DIY): $50*
If you’re caught out and need to make a last minute trip to the bottom of the ocean (as is often the case) then oxygen is your best buddy. Most of us might throw on a wetsuit and strap on our tried and tested oxygen tanks before heading down, but not this guy.

Instead, he’s got a hose and an old gas canister. Let’s just hope that the canister was empty and then filled with oxygen, but that still doesn’t make this a safe practice. Nothing about this setup is right. Personally, we’d rather take our chances with the fishes.

40. Makeshift Sleeping Mask

Est. Cost (New): $5*
Est. Cost (DIY): $0*
We’ve all been on a busy flight and desperately wanted to get some shut eye, haven’t we? Seasoned travelers know how important it is to pack a neck pillow and a sleep mask, but not this gal. She flies by the seat of her pants.

Most flight operators have little gadgets like eye masks available to purchase, but why do that when you can use your own silky tresses? It won’t cost you a dime and smells like the conditioner you used just last night. Honestly, it’s a wonder the eye mask market hasn’t gone bust.
