33. Elmo
Est. Cost: $15-$25*
What Happened: A Pinterest fail, through and through
Elmo is a big part of a lot of peoples’ childhoods. This red Muppet is on Sesame Street, and, though he is supposed to be a furry monster, he’s really just a friend to all toddlers. That’s why the failure of this kid’s cake is sad.

It’s not Elmo’s World anymore with this cake, which turned Elmo into a demonic creature from the pits of hell. This was labeled as a “Pinterest fail,” and we’re not surprised, as it has all the hallmarks.
34. Broke Skewer Hack (Sort Of)
Est. Cost: $0*
What Happened: Wire hangers used as skewers
“When you’re broke but creative,” read the caption on this photo, and we’re not sure whether to call it a fail or not. This person doesn’t own BBQ skewers (you can find them at Lowe’s for $6-$20), so they improvised, using wire hangers instead.

So, coat hangers can be cooked with, according to the outdoorsy site Camping Light, but you have to remove the coating on the hangers before cooking with them. Really, it’s best not to cook with hangers, thanks to these toxic coatings, but, if you must, you have to totally burn off the chemicals beforehand.
35. The Seasoning Slipped
Est. Cost: $0*
What Happened: An accidental over-seasoning
Well, let’s hope this person loves seasoning, as they’re going to get a lot of it. When seasoning eggs, the lid came off of the container and created this intense mess. This person is going to have to find a clever solution to return their fried egg to normal.

The Seasoning Slipped @boredpanda/Pinterest
Really, it’s best to season the eggs before you put them in the pan (though how that would have prevented this is unclear). As a lesson learned from this photo—always keep your seasoning jars tightly-sealed.
36. This Frozen Cake
Est. Cost: $30*
What Happened: Elsa from Frozen, but not really
Frozen, the movie and franchise, was a monster success for Disney, grossing over $1.2 billion at the box office. Not to mention, Frozen made a ton of money through merchandise and licensing.

Still, making a cake based on a character, however popular that character may be, is always a tricky task. This person tried to make Elsa from Frozen, but came up with someone who looked totally opposite the Snow Queen.
37. Happy Easter
Est. Cost: $20*
What Happened: A bunny cake that looks deformed
Bunny cakes are very popular during the Easter and spring season, and, chances are, you see more than a few of these cakes on your Insta and TikTok when the holiday comes around. Though these cakes look pretty, they can be really hard to make.

Happy Easter @odditymall/Pinterest
As depicted here, where you can see someone’s bunny cake was a massive fail. This rabbit looks less like a cheery forest critter and more like a Yeti. That being said, as long as it tastes good, who cares?
38. Hedgehog Cake Fails
Est. Cost: $15-$25 each*
What Happened: Hedgehog-shaped cakes gone horribly wrong
People absolutely go all out trying to make a hedgehog cake (maybe not you, but it is somewhat of a niche industry). They try to follow recipes from BBC Good Food and others, but the fails are often as widely-talked about as the successes.

Hedgehog Cake Fails @Google/Pinterest
Here are a trio of hedgehog cake fails, each more hilarious than the other. This “celebration cake with a woodland style,” as BBC described it, took a dark turn for these bakers, whose creations look like they came out of Five Nights At Freddy’s.
39. “I Thought It Was Glass”
Est. Cost: $20*
What Happened: Plastic dish used instead of glass
It happens to the best of us. Some plastic dishes are really well-made, so much so that they look a little like glass. That’s what happened to this chef, who cooked his delicious-looking meal in a plastic dish, not a glass one.

“I Thought It Was Glass” @boredpanda/Pinterest
The caption read, “I thought it was glass.” It’s a shame, as this casserole or dip or whatever it is looks as though it would have been delicious. Talk about fumbling at the goal line; next time, this person will be more careful.
40. MY LASAGA
Est. Cost: $25*
What Happened: A cooking and spelling disaster
This is a tragic tale in two parts. Act I: “GOTTA HAVE ME A GOOD LASAGAAA” posted over a picture of a delicious-looking lasagna in the oven. 0/10 for spelling, but the actual dish itself looks really tasty.

MY LASAGA @boredpanda/Pinterest
And then…Act II: “MY LASAGA” posted over a picture of the lasagna, face-down, on the ground. Someone got too excited to make lasagna, and they forgot how to spell, as well as how to take something out of the oven.
41. Cthulhu Would Be Proud
Est. Cost: $15-$25*
What Happened: Cthulhu pie gone wrong
Cthulhu, for those who don’t know, is a cosmic, monstrous entity created by H.P. Lovecraft. This gigantic monster has captivated horror fans worldwide, and it lives in the deep, dark waters of the ocean, ready to rise when it’s time to retake the Earth.

Cthulu Would Be Proud @boredpanda/Pinterest
But, until Cthulhu comes back, he can just be baked as a pie. To be fair, the monster would be proud of both Cthulhu pies, as one looks like him, and the other looks terrifying, which embodies the spirit of the ancient deity.
42. Tinkerbell
Est. Cost: $5*
What Happened: Tinkerbell pancake looks deformed
Tinkerbell has been around since 1904, when the cute, adorable fairy first made an appearance in the play Peter Pan by J.M. Barrie. She has since made a ton of appearances in all things Peter-Pan-related, and we all love her.

Tinkerbell @boredpanda/Pinterest
That said, making Tinkerbell into a baked good is no easy proposition, especially not for this baker. This Tinkerbell pancake looks more like a deformed duck than a cute fairytale creature. We can only tell it’s her from the green dress and “wings.”
43. Don’t Reheat Pizza In The Box
Est. Cost: A near house-fire
What Happened: A pizza mishap
This was posted by @kerrikuca on Instagram, and it serves as an important lesson to the rest of us (as do a lot of these baking fails). Don’t reheat pizza in the box, as you will make your house “full of smoke” and cause your sink to turn into a “disaster,” as Kerri said.

Don’t Reheat Pizza In The Box @kerrikuca /Instagram
It happens to the best of us. You’re not paying attention, trying to get pizza reheated, and you just throw it in the oven without thinking. Glad she didn’t burn her house down…and that she was bold enough to post this cooking L on the Internet.
44. How Do You Even Burn Eggs This Badly?
Est. Cost: $2*
What Happened: Burnt eggs, apparently
Posted on Instagram, this person simply captioned the pic, “I burnt eggs” with a bunch of emojis. Credit where credit is due, we didn’t even know it was possible to burn eggs like this, especially not hardboiled ones.

How Do You Even Burn Eggs This Badly? @kelliehailes /Instagram
This might’ve happened from not paying attention. This person could’ve put boiled eggs on the stove, forgot about them, and then only remembered when the water evaporated and the eggs began to “roast” at the bottom of the pot. Yikes.
