7. Easter Egg Cake with Spanish Flavour
Where: Spain

The cake has boiled eggs on top and is shaped like a donut. Since many Catholics abstain from eggs during Lent, the Mona de Pascua represents the triumph of abstinence because all of the leftover eggs were kept for the savory, delectable cake. However, to make the cake more of a sweet delicacy, some Spanish bakers now incorporate chocolate eggs.
8. Apples with peels reveal the future
Where: England and Ireland
* Cost: $1–$5 per pound of apples
Although this Halloween custom isn’t as common as it formerly was, it hasn’t entirely vanished. To “read the future,” people in the UK and Ireland used to peel apples and toss the peel behind them.

The future is predicted by peeled apples (grandbrothers/Shutterstock).
On the ground, the peel slice should curl into a form. The first initial of a prospective spouse is purportedly represented by the letter shape that the peel forms. This custom was originally practiced in Scotland using kale stalks rather of apples.
