The residents of the Cocos Islands and Christmas Island made the decision to assist the crabs. Crab bridges and tunnels have been built on the island to help the crabs travel the dangerous distance across the island more securely. Public sign boards prohibit humans from utilizing these bridges, which are used by millions of red crabs.
