The bridge deck’s X-shaped design makes it distinctive. The base of the X is 249.3 feet, while the summit is 116.1 feet. Regrettably, thieves who take searchlights and wiring frequently target the Octavio Frias de Oliveira Bridge. Since 2011, the Brazilian government has spent more than $400,000 on vandal repairs.
