Tokyo DisneySea is not owned or run by Disney, despite what many people think. The Oriental Land Company is deserving of that distinction because it pays license fees to the massive media conglomerate in return for the use of its products. After three arduous years and $4 billion, it was ultimately prepared for tourists in 2001.

The guests were not let down either. The Disney Seaside Amusement Park gained such popularity among both adults and children that, as of 2019, it was among the top 5 most visited parks globally.
