A drone does not always need to cost more than $1,000 in order to capture a compelling image. For less than $500, a device like the Parrot BeBop can still take amazing pictures like these. That man had no idea that he was only a few feet away from a massive shark while enjoying a leisurely swim.

Even though drones are considerably farther away than humans, it’s unsettling to know that they see far more than we do. With a single misstep, the swimmer might have been prey for sharks. Fortunately, the man made it out unscathed—at least we hope.
Most likely, he was alright. Although they have a bad image, sharks actually don’t bite humans, according to the NOAA. People would much rather eat fish and marine mammals—they are too much trouble. Out of the more than 300 species of sharks, only around twelve are known to attack, and even then, they only do so out of confusion or curiosity.
