What it is: beer cans with the Braille word “beer” stamped on them
* Invented in 2006; Average Price: $2–$5 per can* It’s astounding that this hasn’t gained greater traction. People with visual impairments are unable to tell one can from the other. In an attempt to open an ice-cold soda, someone might accidentally take a drink of beer, which, depending on the individual, could be disastrous.

Brewers in Japan started embossing “Beer” in Braille on metal cans. The procedure was started in 2006. If a person has more assistance reading the label, they can feel for the braille next to the tab and read it to confirm that it is the beverage they want. Hopefully, something as advanced and widely accepted as this can soon be seen in the United States.
