6. The green version of Pokemon

What it is: a green, not blue, early version of Pokemon

It’s possible that even ardent admirers of Pokemon are unaware that the initial games featured green and red colors instead of red and blue. Pokemon Green, featuring Venusaur on the cover, was never released in the West. For a while, it was even thought to be an urban legend until Nintendo provided confirmation.

Pokemon Green was never launched in this region since Nintendo recognized there were issues with the original versions that needed to be resolved. Since Pokemon Blue addressed the issues with Pokemon Green, Blue was the version that was released in the United States. Nintendo had no hesitation in discarding Green because it was a subpar version.
