5. New and Old Driver Symbols
What it is: stickers that you must put on your vehicle to inform other drivers whether you are a new driver, an old person, or have any other impairment.
Created in the 2000s
Cost on average: $3–$5*
This is a fantastic idea that America should adopt. In Japan, drivers belonging to specific classes are required by law to place stickers on their cars. You are required to place a sticker with a symbol on your automobile if you are an elderly person, a novice driver, have hearing loss, or have any other form of disability.

Even more specialized stickers are required to be placed on your car in Tokyo. These stickers include driver’s training marks, which warn other drivers to avoid sudden stops or indicate that you are practicing. In Japan, other drivers are aware of these stickers and know to allow the car to display them in plenty of space.
