The standard image of the far, far future has always featured flying cars, but it appears that this distant era may be closer than we realize. A Japanese startup named SkyDrive is presently working on creating an aircraft. Since its founding in 2018, SkyDrive has created a working prototype of a flying car and freight drones.

The aircraft on which it is now developing will have zero emissions. SkyDrive, which has its headquarters in Tokyo and is led by Tomohiro Fukuzawa, plans to produce its first actual flying automobile by 2025. The company claims to have a “shared vision” of a world in which people can travel for their “daily lives” via “air mobility.”
