Among the oddest items ever discovered in a desert is this. You don’t typically think of kangaroos as having horns when you think of these amiable creatures. However, strange fossils with horns have been discovered, which indicates that kangaroos used to have quite a distinct appearance. The fossils showed that in addition to having horns, they also had bulbous noses.

Unexpectedly, given that kangaroos don’t normally burrow, these strange, alien-looking animals also possessed enormous digging claws. The unusual discoveries made by archaeologists and paleontologists in Australia’s arid regions include this find from the Nullarbor arid.
