At $20 billion, the Moorside Nuclear Power Station will be among the most costly nuclear power stations in the world when it is built. It is currently only in the proposal stage. This facility is owned by NuGeneration, and by 2024, it should be operational. However, it’s unclear if Moorside will fulfill its deadline now that its ownership is under scrutiny.

Naturally, there has been debate concerning the necessity of building this plant. Because Cumbria depends so heavily on nuclear power for its GDP, locals have warned that if this expensive plan is not approved, the failure of the Moorside facility will “devastate” the area.
