The construction of the 1,622-foot-tall Shanghai World Financial Center was estimated to have cost about $1.2 billion. August 2008 saw the opening of the 101-story neo-futuristic structure for commercial use. Constructed by Kohn Pedersen Fox’s William Pedersen, this Shanghai building is a must-see feature in the city’s skyline.

In a way, the SWFC is a jack of all trades. It houses a hotel, restaurant, and shopping center in addition to offices. Tickets for a tourist visit to the SWFC start at about $26. Shanghai is a major financial center in the world; therefore, the tower is a worthy addition to the city.
