2. Coffee
(unopened, ground, and canned) Expires in: 2 years
Average Cost: $8.94 for a 30-ounce can If stored properly, unopened, ground coffee in a can will last for two years. It may cause you to become ill if you haven’t stored it correctly. Canned coffee should be kept at room temperature in a dark spot, like your pantry. As soon as you open it, you should put it in an airtight container. For storing, the freezer or refrigerator work best.

The coffee will get weak and stale after two years. Verify that there isn’t any mold developing on the can by checking it. Although eating mold won’t necessarily kill you, it will make you sick to your stomach and induce vomiting, even if your immune system is strong.
