People went crazy about Kate Middleton’s shamrock brooch when she wore it in 2022. They had no idea that this brooch had been owned by the Queen Mother for two decades. When the renowned Royal celebrated her 100th birthday in 2000, the Irish Guards Brooch was made in her honor.

On St. Patrick’s Day, the Queen Mother would always give the Irish Guards shamrocks. When she turned 100 years old, they gave her a gold brooch in the shape of a shamrock to commemorate her milestone. Because missionaries utilized shamrocks to illustrate the Christian concept of the Holy Trinity, shamrocks have come to represent St. Patrick’s Day in Irish culture.
