7. At Least They Tried to Make It Look Legit

This could perhaps be the most unusual approach we have ever seen to mend a damaged tail light. And we have seen folks before covering their tail lights in red duct tape. We do, however, wonder if this would really be feasible. Clearly it replaces the red tail light cover, but when someone tapped on the brakes it wouldn’t really light or anything. Actually, it would most likely cause distraction for the car behind them.
This temporary fix’s inventiveness merits both appreciation and caution. Although the improvised tail light cover—a red plastic bottle—showcases amazing inventiveness and resourcefulness—but it presents major safety issues. Although the execution falls considerably short of legal criteria, the improvised solution shows the extent some people would go to comply with traffic rules. “Well, it’s red, it’s transparent, and it fits – perfect!” one could picture the thinking process. Though the answers might not be totally safe or practical, the effort addresses a universal human quality of discovering innovative solutions to daily difficulties. It reminds us that occasionally dubious engineering and good intentions lay the path to compliance.
