This exquisite and multipurpose gem can be taken apart to become a necklace in addition to a tiara. This was formerly a necklace that Princess Mary received as a wedding present from Queen Victoria. The princess wore it in her hair on her special day. The necklace was then turned into a tiara by Queen Mary, which can be worn in two different ways.

This piece, which was also owned by Queen Mary, is sometimes confused with a very similar tiara. Made in 1831 for Queen Adelaide, it was subsequently given to Queen Victoria. It is currently kept in Queen Elizabeth’s vaults and has been worn by many queens since.
