“The most important” item that Prince Albert ever added to the Royal collection, according to the Court Jeweler, is the Albert Brooch. Princess Victoria received the Albert Brooch as a gift from Prince Albert in 1840. The day before her wedding, he gave it to her as a gift. Victoria wrote in her diary that the brooch was “really quite beautiful” and “splendid.”

The Albert Brooch is a gold-plated rectangular sapphire with twelve round-cut diamonds encircling it. The Albert Brooch’s creator is unknown, although the Royal Collection speculates that it may have been created in Germany, the nation of Albert’s birth. In the 1950s, Queen Elizabeth would inherit the brooch.
