13. Feeling Lighter
The physical sensation of hair being taken evolved to represent Jose’s emotional trip really powerfully. He felt a double lightness, psychological as well as physical as every lock dropped to the ground. Although his long hair had been a literal weight, it also stood for the years of struggle he had gone through on the streets. Its elimination turned into a symbolic unburdling that signalled his start of a new chapter in his life.
