Antarctica: A Single Path

Despite its movie-like appearance, this is entirely real. Sadly, poachers were threatening these Humboldt penguins, but environmentalists moved quickly and effectively to return the animals to their natural home—an island off the coast of Port Elizabeth, South Africa. Penguin transportation is more difficult than one may imagine, therefore flying commercially seemed like the most sensible option for carrying penguins.

While most airports would never witness such a remarkable sight, events such as these are more frequent than you might think in nations accustomed to harsh weather and temperatures. Polar bears abound in the region where this photo was taken, which is an airport in Alaska. Despite spending most of their lives in frigid waters, these stunning yet lethal creatures appear to love ambling amid the planes.

There’s little possibility of getting your phone back if you leave it in an airport. However, after a traveler forgot their phone at Newcastle International Airport, these airport staff members decided to have some fun by sharing a humorous selfie on her Facebook page. The reputation of Geordies isn’t the best, but these two men managed to alter a lot of people’s ideas about the northerners with heavy accents. Jasmine would definitely remember this one.
