A magnificent piece of history was hidden for decades in the depths of Lake Kurtna Matasjärv until it was uncovered in 2000 by a young Estonian guy named Kasper. Kasper fetched his parents after spotting an odd marking and a rope nearby. After a protracted dig, the entire town was engaged.

A Soviet-built T34/76A tank rose up from the depths at the other end of the rope, a menacing reminder of times gone by. Kasper made this accidental finding. However, it’s still up to speculation as to why or how the tank ended up there.
