2. ‘Witch Bottle’ Discovered in English Chimney

While tearing down a former bar in Watford, England, contractors made an odd discovery in the building’s chimney portion. This eerie, legendary gift included a witch bottle, teeth, glass pieces, and something that seemed like an unknown liquid. It was believed that the bottle was from the 1800s.

Presumably, it was put in the pub to fend off witches. That makes sense, given that the Witch of Saratoga was born on this Watford estate. The Witch’s original name was Angeline Tubbs, and in 1761 she moved to Saratoga, New York, where she read fortunes and manufactured witch bottles to frighten off rivals.
