22. This Is Fine

Est. Cost: $20-$30 for a new pot*
What Happened: The bottom of a pot broke and collapsed
Where did this person get this cooking pot, from the Dollar Tree or junk store? “This is fine” read the Snapchat caption of this photograph, and we’re here to confirm the opposite. The food literally collapsed out of the bottom of the pot.

This Is Fine @boredpanda/Pinterest
To be fair to whoever made this cooking pot, it does look worse for wear. This pot looks as though it has been through the wars, and perhaps this person making stew was just the final straw.

23. Frozen Pizza Fail

Est. Cost: $10-$15*
What Happened: A frozen pizza collapsed in the oven
A quick Google search showed that this pizza completely collapsing in the oven was probably due to user error. Apparently, you’re supposed to put the pizza in the oven, totally frozen, if you’re placing it on the rack.

The pizza doesn’t have much moisture that way, so you don’t have to worry about it exploding. If you let it thaw a bit, that’s fine, but you’ll have to drop the cooking time and put it on a baking sheet. Or, you could cut out the middleman and just order from Pizza Hut.

24. Steamed Hotdogs

Est. Cost: $5-$10*
What Happened: The hotdogs were over-steamed and split
“My wife tried to steam hotdogs,” was the caption on this self-explanatory post. Granted, you can steam hotdogs, but not for a long time. It’s a tricky task, and even “long time doggers,” as Learn Hot Dogs put it, run afoul of this method sometimes.

Steamed Hotdogs @boredpanda/Pinterest
The last thing you want is for your hotdogs to split like this, turning them into a mass of boiled intestines. There’s no way anyone could eat this, as it just looks too unappetizing to stomach, in our opinion.

25. An Electric Kettle

Est. Cost: $50-$100 to replace*
What Happened: An electric kettle was placed on the stove
An electric kettle was placed on the oven; just let that sink in. This person clearly had a massive brain fart and forgot what electric meant, causing the kettle to totally break. Not only will they have to replace the kettle; the stovetop needs fixing, too.

An Electric Kettle @manjusinghal/Pinterest
KitchenAid makes some nice electric kettles for around $100. The more you spend, the fancier the kettle. Hopefully, this person keeps their new kettle away from the stove this time. What a silly mistake, but it happens.

26. A Cut Above

Est. Cost: $10-$50 to replace*
What Happened: A snapped cutting board
This person was cutting their fish so aggressively, their wooden cutting board broke off. There must have been pre-existing weaknesses in the cutting board, and the chop-chop of this fish head was the straw that broke the camel’s back (so to speak).

A Cut Above @boredpanda/Pinterest
You can find cutting boards for around $10 to $50, depending on how fancy you want yours to be. Be careful with wooden cutting boards, however. These boards are porous, which gives bacteria an easy “in” into the board’s grooves. If you must, you should stick to a wood board made from bamboo.

27. This Waffle Went Awry

Est. Cost: Hours of cleaning
What Happened: A waffle experiment went South
Was this even a waffle to start with? What did this person put in their waffle maker? You can get pretty creative with these handy gadgets, which are the darling of TikTok chefs and Instagrammers everywhere.

This Waffle Went Awry @TheSunOnline/Pinterest
That said, there is a limit. It’s not clear what this person put in their batter—if it even is batter—but the waffle maker did not take to it well. This will take hours to clean, assuming the gadget can even be saved at this point.

28. First Time Frying Buffalo Wings

Est. Cost: $500-$1,000 to fix*
What Happened: A frying attempt ended in a kitchen explosion
The poster said that this was their first time frying “buffalo wings,” and they did not succeed, even remotely. This goes way beyond a bad-tasting piece of food; this is a huge kitchen mishap that could’ve ended badly.

First Time Frying Buffalo Wings @boredpanda/Pinterest
Imagine telling your insurance that you burnt down your house making buffalo wings. Even Allstate wouldn’t put you in good hands, and Nationwide would not be on your side. Maybe this person should just order out next time.

29. The Blob Remake

Est. Cost: $15-$25*
What Happened: Something bubbled over in the oven
Compared to the actual Michael-Bay-esque explosions we have seen on this list, this blob isn’t too bad. It looks as though it’s gunning for a spot in a remake of the famous movie, The Blob, and it’s a front-runner.

The Blob Remake @insider/Pinterest
It’s hard to tell what this was supposed to be and how to prevent issues like it in the future. That said, all we can really advise is following instructions to a T and not replacing or switching around ingredients. If you do that, this probably won’t happen.

30. Banana Bread

Est. Cost: $10-$20*
What Happened: Banana bread grew a “tail”
Banana bread is a favorite of almost everyone (seriously, who do you know that doesn’t like banana bread?), but that doesn’t mean it’s super-easy to make. As you can see from this somewhat-obscene photo, banana bread can be tricky.

Banana Bread @insider/Pinterest
While excess moisture can make banana bread sag in the middle, we’re not sure what error caused it to overgrow and sprout tentacles as depicted in this photo. This is banana bread with a tail…a new recipe.

31. Worth A Shot

Est. Cost: $15-$20*
What Happened: A copycat recipe gone wrong
This looks like a Pinterest or Instagram copycat recipe gone wrong. We can easily see how the photo on the left, featuring Peppa Pig and her friends bathing in chocolate surrounded by white Kit-Kats, might’ve enticed someone to try to make it.

Worth A Shot @buzzfeed/Pinterest
But, as we all know, taking inspo from Snapchat, Pinterest, and wherever else doesn’t always go to plan when it comes down to brass tacks. Instead of swimming in chocolate, the copycat’s pigs look like they’re drowning.

32. Humbled By Dessert

Est. Cost: $20-$30*
What Happened: A chocolate dessert turned into a lava flow
“Nothing humbles you like baking,” was the caption that went along with this photo, which was posted on Reddit. This Redditor was baking dessert for a dinner party when things went wrong, so he snapped a pic and posted it on r/BakingNoobs.

Humbled By Dessert @BakingNoobs /Reddit
This chocolate monstrosity outgrew its container by a long shot, creating somewhat of a sweet lava flow. This could be saved—the cooked batter still in the bowl could be cut into brownie shapes, and no one would have to know.
