The Charles Bridge, officially known as Karluv Most, is situated in Prague. King Charles IV, after whom the bridge is named, gave the order to start building the Charles Bridge in 1357. Completed in 1402, it took the place of the Judith Bridge, which had been built in 1158 but had been damaged by flooding in the middle of the 1300s.

The Vltava River was crossed by the Charles Bridge. The bridge was a key lifeline that connected Prague Castle to Prague’s Old Town and served as the only way to cross the Vltava until 1841. The Charles Bridge is 43 feet clear and 1,692 feet long. It is presently undergoing $1.9–$2.6 million worth of restorations and repairs.
