Archaeologists found the “Lost Golden City of Egypt” in 2020. For millennia, the city lay beneath the surface of the dunes, until Zahi Hawass’s archaeological team discovered it.

There were residences, a restaurant and bakery, administrative structures, and a cemetery with tombs carved out of rock in this 3,000-year-old metropolis. Items pertaining to the manufacturing of metal and glass were also present. It’s interesting to note that two strange cow burials were discovered within a Golden City room. The Golden City, known as Aten, was discovered in 2020; it took weeks to excavate the region because it was the biggest Egyptian city ever found.
