The mine was established in the early 1900s, and in the 1950s, its notoriety reached a fever pitch. There was a genuine belief held by many that vast gold reserves were beneath the surface of Rodalquilar.

Unfortunately, this state-sponsored project fell short of expectations and was shut down after ten years of disappointment. Despite being revitalized in the 1980s as a location for the movies The Reckoning and Solar Babies, this abandoned mine is now mostly a safe sanctuary for adventurers willing to explore its spooky, rocky ruins.
