The civil engineer Ed Metka has long been passionate about urban mobility. He was concerned that many trolley models were being destroyed or sold for junk when he left the Army. He bought fourteen trolley cars from the Massachusetts Transportation Authority and arranged them near Windber, Pennsylvania, for public display.

The so-called “Trolley Graveyard” is still in place today, and a caretaker and security guard live there full-time to ensure that this exhibit is not vandalized. Metka still has a lifelong passion for vehicles, but he is currently looking for a buyer to restore them to their previous splendor.
