15. Sprinkles

Sprinkles are composed entirely of sugar, as are colored sugar and other decorations for baked goods. Sugar rarely goes bad because it inhibits the growth of microorganisms. Sprinkles last for a year or more, even after being opened. They are guaranteed to last that long if you store them in a cool, dry location.

The majority of baked goods have an expiration date. You can typically go past that date by a short time if the sprinkles are sealed and never opened. Do a taste test first, though, and replace the sprinkles with a fresh bag if they taste stale.
