Since glue is a natural product, it has an expiration date, just like almost all other natural products. Glue has an expiration date of one to two years, just as paint, markers, spray adhesives, and other “wet” creative items like paper-backed adhesives do. The date of expiration is typically printed on the bottle of glue.

If the glue is pasty or stringy, you can tell when it needs to be replaced. It’s probably beyond its best if the glue sticks to itself rather than the object you’re trying to use it for. While using old glue won’t harm you, it probably won’t perform as well.
