9. Canned Foods

Because of their lengthy shelf life, canned goods have been a mainstay since the early 19th century and usually last one to four years. The catch is that they aren’t unkillable. Over time, especially in environments with temperature fluctuations, the food within the can and the can’s integrity may deteriorate.

A can that is dented or rusted should be taken seriously, as it may indicate food contamination or deterioration. Thus, while hoarding canned goods is a terrific idea, don’t forget to rotate your supply and pay attention to expiration dates. It all comes down to taking advantage of the convenience without sacrificing security.
