106. Yellow Crepe Chiffon Dress

Original Dress Price: Unknown
Original Made by: Unknown
Knock-off Purchased at: Sparsheen
Knock-off Purchased for: $10-$20*
If you look up Sparsheen on the Better Business Bureau website (always a good idea to do, by the way), you’ll see that they’re not only not BBB-accredited, but they’re also not in business any longer. The BBB tried to send them mail, only for the mail to be returned to the sender.

Yellow Crepe Chiffon Dress @KnockOffNightmares/Facebook
It’s probably for the best, as the dress advertised is not the one that turned up in the mail. This yellow chiffon dress has a different cut and color than the one in the photo. Instead of looking like a fun, whimsical dress, this Sparsheen knockoff is dowdy and frumpy.

107. Boho White Embroidered Skirt

Knock-off Purchased at: Online Site
Knock-off Purchased for: Unknown
For some, the boho skirt will never go out of style. Boho has waxed and waned as a stylistic theme for years, but boho-style retailers still do pretty well. When they’re being honest about their product, that is.
This skirt looks nothing like the one that this buyer ordered. It is way shorter and lacks a lot of printing. It looks as though this knockoff site got halfway through making the skirt and then just gave up. We hope this buyer got her money back, though we’re not holding our breath.

108. Purple Halter Neck Dress

Original Dress Price: Unknown
Original Made by: Unknown
Knock-off Purchased at: Online Site
Knock-off Purchased for: Unknown
This color-block dress is hilarious for all the wrong reasons. The peach and purple halter-style dress is gorgeous, but the knockoff is not what this person ordered in the slightest. The fake dress looks like something someone in a hospital would wear.

Purple Halter Kneck Dress @newsyoulikein/Pinterest
At least, with some of the other gowns on this list, the knockoff retailer made an effort. Here, all we can say is that the colors look somewhat close. Let’s hope this buyer didn’t spend too much money on this knockoff gown; otherwise, she’s probably never going to get her money back. Knockoff sites aren’t exactly known for their responsive customer service.

109. Pink Sequin Prom Dress

Original Dress Price: Unknown
Original Made by: Unknown
Knock-off Purchased at: Online Site
Knock-off Purchased for: Unknown
On Twitter, @mogantalley had wise advice for us all: “DON’T ORDER YOUR PROM DRESS ONLINE!” They purchased this prom dress in 2015 and, needless to say, it wasn’t exactly what they ordered. The prom dress was supposed to be sparkly and pink, looking like a princess gown.

Pink Sequin Prom Dress @Brides Beware/Facebook
Instead, the pink was more of a salmon than a bubble gum shade. The manufacturer also neglected to state that the top part was totally see-through. The knockoff website clearly skimped when it came to the shiny sequins. Prom dress shopping can be a lot of fun—just don’t do it online.

110. Long Green Dress

Original Dress Price: Unknown

Knock-off Purchased at: Online Site
Knock-off Purchased for: Unknown
There are a lot of reasons why a bride might want to go with another color than white on her wedding day. Maybe she thinks that white is overdone, or she wants to shake things up. Not all wedding gowns have to be white, contrary to what your mother-in-law thinks.

Long Green Dress @Brides Beware/Facebook
But they probably should all be bought in person. This bride ordered a lovely wrapped green dress for her wedding. What came in the mail looked like something a cosplayer would wear to a Renaissance Fest. There are two different types of fabric used, both cheap. The wrap looks nothing like in the photo. This dress belongs in the bin.

111. Mini Blue Crystal Dress

Original Dress Price: Unknown
Original Made by: Unknown
Knock-off Purchased at: Online Site
Knock-off Purchased for: Unknown
When you hear the term “Crystal Blue Mini Dress,” you probably think that the dress will look something like the dress on the left. The photo is, admittedly, pretty airbrushed, and we all know that how the model looks in the ad won’t always play out for us in real life.

Long Green Dress @Brides Beware/Facebook
That said, this dress is way off. The cut looks somewhat accurate, but the color? The only thing that is accurate about this dress is that it is in the same color family. The sequins look incredibly cheap, and even taking a glance at this dress will cause a flurry of blue sequin snowflakes to fall from the fabric.

112. Formal Lace Red Dress

Original Dress Price: Unknown
Original Made by: Unknown
Knock-off Purchased at: Online Site
Knock-off Purchased for: Unknown
The cut isn’t even remotely accurate on this gown, and the only correct thing about this knockoff website’s dress is that it is red. The person probably bought this low-cut red gown with plans to have a Jessica Rabbit aesthetic.

Formal Lace Red Dress @Brides Beware/Facebook
Instead, they got a frumpy, ninth-grade homecoming look (remember your dress from your first homecoming? Who wants to repeat that?). Of course, as with a lot of these knockoff websites, it’s not like this person can call and complain and have that work. They got scammed; best to take this experience and be wary when online shopping in the future.

113. Pink Roses Wedding Gown

Original Dress Price: Unknown
Original Made by: Unknown
Knock-off Purchased at: Online Site
Knock-off Purchased for: Unknown
In all fairness, the look on the left was a risky one from the start. Pink roses on a wedding gown might sound romantic and whimsical, but the style on the left was always going to be hard to pull off. The corset look is old-fashioned, but there are some brides that can make it work.

Pink Roses Wedding Gown @Brides Beware/Facebook
But those brides don’t have a shot when it comes to the gown on the right. The cut isn’t even remotely accurate on that, and the rose placement is totally random. When you’re shopping for a tricky style like this one, you have to do it in person. Otherwise, disaster.

114. Blue Sunflower Skirt

Original Dress Price: Unknown
Original Made by: Unknown
Knock-off Purchased at: Amily.com
Knock-off Purchased for: $30*
One skirt is knitted, and one is woven, and that is just the beginning of this clothing item’s problems. Bought on Amily.com, this skirt probably cost around $30. Amily delivered, but it didn’t deliver anything of value.

Blue Sunflower Skirt @KnockOffNightmares/Facebook
The sunflower pattern on the knockoff skirt is totally incorrect, and the skirt has no volume, unlike the one the purchaser thought they were getting. Amily.com, for the record, is no longer available, though the URL is up for sale. If you do buy it, just make sure you’re not going to sell cheap knockoff clothing.

115. Peach Maxi Dress

Original Dress Price: Unknown
Original Made by: Unknown
Knock-off Purchased at: Modlily
Knock-off Purchased for: $20-$30*
Really, this entire list serves as a PSA of where not to buy clothing. On Facebook, Knock Off Nightmares received this entry, which was purchased at Modlily. Knock Off Nightmares described Modlily as “notorious” for “horrible knockoffs.”

Peach Maxi Dress @KnockOffNightmares/Facebook
While we can’t confirm whether that’s true or isn’t, what is for sure is that this dress looks terrible. The peach maxi dress looks nothing like the one advertised, as the knockoff is cut more like a hospital gown. What’s worse is that one of the commenters said that she ordered “the same dress” for a “holiday party” years ago and got the “same mess.”

116. Dress Turned Into A Bag

Original Dress Price: Unknown

Knock-off Purchased at: Online Site
Knock-off Purchased for: Unknown
If this side-by-side makes you do a double-take, that’s because this order was totally wrong. We’re not sure whether or not this dress was a knockoff. Who knows? It might have been an exact copy of this magical, princess-like gown we see here.

Dress Turned Into A Bag @Maria Margarita Bikouvaraki /Facebook
But we doubt that. We’ll never know, though, as the buyer got the wrong order. Instead of a dress, she got a strange-looking little purse that came about as an intentional scam or a total order mix-up. Let’s hope she didn’t pay $200 for a zippered pencil carrier.

117. Purple Sequin Gown

Original Dress Price: Unknown
Original Made by: Unknown
Knock-off Purchased at: Cichic
Knock-off Purchased for: $80*
On TikTok, yet another avenue for consumers to share their displeasure when they get scammed by a company, @laurandavy shared this photo of a knockoff dress from Cichic, asking the question, “Are you for real?” to the company. The dress likely cost around $80 or so.

Purple Sequin Gown @PissedConsumerCom/Facebook
The dress pictured and the one received don’t even look similar, as the second one, the knockoff, looks more like a nightgown than an actual evening gown. In the comments of the video, consumers were sharing their experiences with Cichic, and they weren’t too happy, to say the least.

118. Golden Maxi Party Dress

Original Dress Price: Unknown
Original Made by: Unknown
Knock-off Purchased at: Alibaba (Or A Similar Site)
Knock-off Purchased for: $16.44*
To be fair, this dress is listed at $16.44, a price knockdown from the also way-too-low $23.16, so what did this buyer expect? Bought on what looks like Alibaba or a similar site, the dress that came in the mail was, you guessed it, not even remotely accurate.

Golden Maxi Party Dress @KnockOffNightmares/Facebook
The “translucent sundress” was a little too translucent, as the dress ended up being a bodysuit with some see-through material over it. If the price for a beautiful gown like this is this low, then you know that something is up and you shouldn’t click “BUY NOW.”

119. Embroidered Blue And White Dress

Original Dress Price: Unknown
Original Made by: Unknown
Knock-off Purchased at: Online Site
Knock-off Purchased for: Unknown
Well, at least they tried. Sort of. This embroidered blue gown was a feat of craftsmanship, sure to wow anyone who saw the person wear it. The real designer even had suggestions on what type of shoes and purse to wear with it.

Embroided Blue & White Dress @KnockOffNightmares/Facebook
The dress received, much like every single other dress on this list, was a hot mess. Sure, the knockoff site got the colors somewhat right, but the embroidery (if you can call it that) looks like a halfhearted attempt. It’s not even that accurate, and the dress itself looks small enough to fit a child.

120. Sweetheart Lace Gray Dress

Original Dress Price: Unknown

Knock-off Purchased at: Online Site
Knock-off Purchased for: Unknown
On Facebook in 2018, reporter Jenny Jean was doing research on online scams, asking for emails sent to her CBC address about the prevalence of online retail scams. For reference, Jean shared what may have inspired her to take on this endeavor: a photo of herself getting scammed online.

Sweetheart Lace Grey Dress @KnockOffNightmares/Facebook
The dress Jean bought was supposed to be a regal, pale-blue, lacy gown that would be perfect for any evening out. What she got was a nightgown from the 1800s prairie days. There’s no way this dress would be useful for anything other than a Gone With The Wind Halloween costume.

121. White Jumpsuit

Original Dress Price: Unknown
Original Made by: Unknown
Knock-off Purchased at: Online Site
Knock-off Purchased for: Unknown
Jumpsuits are hit-and-miss in general. We’ve all tried on one that we thought would look amazing, only to realize that we were way, way wrong. And that’s just shopping in person—shopping online is a total shot in the dark.

White Jumpsuit @KnockOffNightmares/Facebook
One consumer found that out the hard way when she purchased a white jumpsuit. Instead of looking elegant and stylish, the jumpsuit she received looked cheap, and the material was nowhere near what was advertised. We’re sure the knockoff site accidentally-on-purpose forgot to mention that the belt didn’t come with the jumpsuit.

122. Dark Green Bridesmaid Dress

Original Dress Price: Unknown
Original Made by: Unknown
Knock-off Purchased at: MIALONDON
Knock-off Purchased for: $368*
If you want the full story on what happened with MIALONDON, a UK site that also goes by the name Aisle Style, then go to the Facebook page of Kaisa Juosila Gent. Gent shared this post as a “warning” about MIALONDON, as she ordered bridesmaid’s dresses online from this site.

Dark Green Bridesmaid Dress @KnockOffNightmares/Facebook
She wasn’t happy, to say the least. Even though she ordered the dresses to the proper measurements, the dresses were cheap and measured wrong. They also came late. And, when Gent tried to talk to MIALONDON, she got shut out, and customer service didn’t do much to help her with her situation. According to Gent, she was out $368 because of this company, which wasted three months of her time.

123. Metallic Blue Skirt

Original Dress Price: Unknown
Original Made by: Unknown
Knock-off Purchased at: Online Site
Knock-off Purchased for: Unknown
We’ve seen this a lot on this list. A dress will be advertised that is voluminous and stylish, but, when the skirt is actually received, it hangs flat. There is so much wrong with this purchase, which was shared on Knock Off Nightmares, a Facebook page.

Metalic Blue Skirt @KnockOffNightmares/Facebook
You can tell just from looking at the knockoff dress that it is made from cheap material. The skirt is also cut way too high, and it doesn’t exactly billow the way the other one did. We’re sure it was inexpensive, but that price was deceptive, as the buyer will now have to pay for a replacement for this shoddy dress.

124. Matching Frilly Purple Sweat Set

Original Dress Price: Unknown
Original Made by: Unknown
Knock-off Purchased at: @lipsticknlabelz on Instagram
Knock-off Purchased for: $45*
On Facebook, a shopper named Devan said that she tried buying clothing off of Instagram, only to get scammed. The sweat set from @lipsticknlabelz on IG was stylish and chic, but the set that Devan got looked like something out of a circus performer’s wardrobe.

Matching Purple Frilly Sweat Set @KnockOffNightmares/Facebook
Devan said that she was sent a “whole clown suit.” Her Facebook post went viral, getting over 31,000 shares and more than 2,000 comments. Though people thought the situation was hilarious, other commenters pointed out the harsh lesson of why you probably shouldn’t buy clothing off social media.

125. Mini Yellow Dress

Original Dress Price: Unknown
Original Made by: Unknown
Knock-off Purchased at: Online Site
Knock-off Purchased for: Unknown
Facebook’s Hilary Harrington said that she “never thought” she’d “fall for” an online shopping “knockoff nightmare,” but, honestly, it happens to the best of us. We’ve all bought clothes online that haven’t worked out. Whether our purchases were as bad as this one is another story.

Instead of getting a stylish yellow dress (with pockets!), Hillary received a frumpy, see-through yellow dress with a neckline so high that it could serve as a neck brace. The color was also far dimmer and way less vibrant than the one pictured. Alas, this is a total shopping fail (though not on the buyer’s side).
