166. The Source of Landscape

Possible Drone Used: DJI Air 2S
Where to Buy: Best Buy
Cost: $1,299* (Bundle)
Snapped by @ Mark的视界, this photo is titled, “The Source of Nature.” Though the picture doesn’t exactly feature sunny blue skies, it is a magic look at a fascinating scenic view. The image is almost ancient-looking, as though it were taken before anyone ever lived on Earth.

The drone used for this photo was the DJI Air 2S. This all-in-one drone is one of the company’s most popular products. You can find it at the DJI store for just $999, or you can get the “Bundle” from Best Buy for $1,299 if you want all the bells and whistles.

167. Age of Stone

Possible Drone Used: DJI Mini 3 Pro
Where to Buy: Best Buy
Cost: $759*
Taken by @不想取这破名儿 and submitted to the SkyPixel 2022 competition, this award-winning photograph is an abstract picture taken in Hubei, China. This picture could have been taken using a DJI Mini 3 Pro, a compact-yet-effective drone that you can get at Best Buy for $759 (by comparison, Amazon has it for around $400 more).

The abstract picture takes an entirely new look at Hubei, China’s landlocked province full of mountains, lakes, wilderness, and urban areas. The population of Hubei is 58.5 million, and the Central China province’s cities can be crowded, making them a stark contrast to this bare-bones photo.

168. Giant

Possible Drone Used: Sony Airpeak S1
Where to Buy: Sony
Cost: $9,000*
This unreal photo is, fittingly, titled “Giant.” It won an award for its architectural beauty, and the picture was taken by photographer Sara Zanini. The prize-winner is an evening shot of Centuripe, a small village in Sicily, Italy that is famous for being shaped like a giant humanoid figure.

The town is around 67 square miles, and it sits at an elevation well over 2,000 feet above sea level. Centuripe has been around since Roman times, and there are many ancient Roman remains and antiquities that even casual excavators have found. The total population of this unique city is 5,418.

169. A moment to never forget, waking up in Switzerland

Possible Drone Used: DJI Mavic 2 Pro
Where to Buy: Amazon
Cost: $3,300* (Full Kit)
TechRadar selected this photo as one of the “Best of 2022” so far, and we have to agree. Taken by Marleen Kujipers with a DJI Mavic 2 Pro, this photo depicts a “moment to never forget.” Kujipers snapped the ethereal image when she awoke in Grindelwald, Switzerland.

The picture overlooks the famous First Cliff Walk, which is beautiful no matter the weather. But, Kujipers managed to hit the jackpot with her drone camera when she had the advantages of mist, balanced light, and snowy peaks to turn this pretty scene into something truly extraordinary. The DJI Mavic 2 Pro is $3,300 on Amazon for a full kit.

170. I think it’s around here

Possible Drone Used: DJI Mavic Air
Where to Buy: Camrise
Cost: $599*
Fabian Ortiz, a Spanish photographer, took this picture titled, “I Think It’s Around Here.” TechRadar selected the image as one of the best (so far) of 2022, and it is a great example of how aerial drones’ high vantage points can create unique images.

I think it’s around here @techradar/Pinterest
Ortiz took the picture with a DJI Mavic Air on the beautiful island of Lanzarote, Spain. Lanzarote is famous for its volcanic landscape. Pictured here are the island’s “volcanic vineyards.” The soil, which came about after a volcanic eruption in the 1700s, has a spongy, nutrient-dense consistency that is surprisingly good at growing bright green trees and other plants.

171. Volcano Sunset

Possible Drone Used: DJI Mavic 2 Pro
Where to Buy: Amazon
Cost: $3,300* (Full Kit)
Iceland is full of volcanoes, and Fagradalsfjall is one of the most scenic. It was formed around 25 miles from Reykjavik in the Last Glacial Period. In late 2020, a fissure vent popped up in this tuya volcano. The eruption was effusive, emitting lava for ten months until September of 2021.

Daniel Haussmann took this photo of a lava flow at Fagradalsfjall at sunset. He used a DJI Mavic 2 Pro, which was able to get close to the hot lava and capture an astonishing photo. The result was well worth the effort, even though it was a tad risky for the $3,300 drone.

172. Cascate del Mulino

Possible Drone Used: Yuneec Typhoon H Plus
Where to Buy: Amazon
Cost: $2,600*
Christian Gatti submitted this photo to the 2021 Drone Photography Awards, and he won in the “People Commended” category. The photo, titled “Cascate del Mulino,” features tourists bathing in Saturnia, Tuscany’s natural thermal pools. Each tourist has their own relaxation position as they take in the benefits of the pools.

The thermal waters are silky-blue, and they are all heated by a nearby volcano. This is one of the most amazing wonders of Tuscany’s countryside. This photo could have been taken with a Typhoon H Plus, a $2,600 drone that is best for experienced drone pilots.

174. Keep the clouds open to see the moon

Possible Drone Used: DJI Mavic Pro Platinum
Where to Buy: Amazon
Cost: $1,599
Chinese photographer @bbarry.97 snapped this beautiful picture with a Mavic Pro. The DJI drone captured a photo of Shanghai through the clouds. The Chinese city is already one of the most impressive in the world, and Pudong’s skyline district is a prime candidate for drone photographers wanting to catch something extraordinary.

@bbarry.97 rotated the Pro to portrait format using the post-sunset dim lighting to capture a low-light cityscape. Pudong is famous for its attractions like Century Park, Shanghai Disney Resort, Shanghai World Expo Center, Pudong International Airport, and more. The 552-mile area is full of futuristic, fun things to do, no matter whether you’re a local or tourist.

175. Group of Camels

Possible Drone Used: DJI Mini 3 Pro
Where to Buy: Amazon
Cost: $759*
Camels are very important in Emirati culture, and there are even camel beauty pageants in the UAE. Taken with a drone, this photo features a group of camels feeding from a trough in Dubai’s desert. Camels are pack animals, and they are also very hardy. Camels are as able to survive in the tough Middle Eastern desert as they are in the Central Asian arid landscapes.

A drone that could have taken this photo was the DJI Mini 3 Pro, a hardy, portable drone that weighs less than 249 grams and just received upgraded safety features from its manufacturer, DJI.

176. Solar Panel Floating in the Dam

Possible Drone Used: PowerVision PowerDolphin Wizard
Where to Buy: Amazon
Cost: $999*
Though you might not think that solar panels and water go hand-in-hand, they actually do. Floating solar farms have taken the world by storm, and they solve a lot of issues. Putting a solar panel in a reservoir behind a dam shades the water course and reduces evaporation.

This can save 90% of the water that would otherwise be lost to the arid air in dry climates. Solar panels protect dam water from evaporation, in addition to creating a renewable energy source. Additionally, they also look really cool, as you can see from this photo, which might have been taken by a PowerVision PowerDolphin Wizard, a water-capable drone that costs $999 on Amazon.

177. Glacial River System

Possible Drone Used: DJI Mavic Air 2 Fly More Combo
Where to Buy: Amazon
Cost: $1,168*
Photographer Attila Csipe took this stunning picture of a massive riverbed and delta. This glacial river system transports deposits from Vatnajokull, a glacier in Iceland. Mighty Vatnajokull is the largest, most voluminous ice cap in the county (as well as the second-largest in Europe after Novaya Zemlya).

Glacial River System ©Attila Csipe/Shutterstock
Vatnajokull covers 8% of Iceland, so, as you can imagine, glacial rivers carrying deposits from it are also huge. This photo might have been taken with a DJI Mavic Air 2 Fly More Combo, a drone that Extreme Fliers labeled as “one of the best…for cold weather.” It gets quite chilly in Iceland, and a drone needs to stand up against that weather to take such stunning snaps.

178. Dubai Skyline

Possible Drone Used: Parrot Anafi
Where to Buy: B&H Photo Video (Used)
Cost: $600*
Taken by social media user @travelwild, this aerial view shows off the crown jewel of the United Arab Emirates: Dubai. Few skylines are as majestic as Dubai, a city that pops up as an ultra-modern oasis in the middle of sandy, harsh desert. The photo’s contrast is enhanced by the lone figure walking the road into Dubai.

Dubai Skyline ©travelwild/Shutterstock
It gets hot in Dubai (it is in the Middle East, after all), and a potential drone that could have been used to snap this photo is the Parrot Anafi, a drone that X-Naut called one of the “best…for summer.” The Anafi is rugged, and it will go with you on all your adventures.

179. Green and Yellow Rice Fields

Possible Drone Used: Skydio 2+ Pro Kit
Where to Buy: Skydio
Cost: $1,969*
Photo contributor @fulltimegipsy submitted this image of fresh yellow and green rice fields in Longsheng County, China. Ping An Village is famous for its rice fields, and, of all the Longji Rice Terrace villages, Ping An is the most visited. There is even a scenic walking trail that will take you through the fields from Ping An to Ancient Zhuang.

Green and Yellow Rice Fields ©Fulltimegipsy/Shutterstock
The trail takes 1.5 hours, and, though you won’t get the amazing aerial shots of a drone, the tour is still quite lovely. A potential drone that could have been used for this photo is the Skydio 2+ Pro Kit, a well-liked drone that caught peoples’ eyes in 2022.

180. London City Lights

Possible Drone Used: DJI Inspire 2
Where to Buy: DJI Drones
Cost: $5,299*
London is England’s capital and one of the most famous cities in the world. Within 607 square miles, just under nine million people live and work. Not to mention, London brings in millions more tourists every year who go to see its highlights, such as Big Ben, Westminster Abbey, the Thames River, the London Eye, and more.

London City Lights ©Zenobillis/Shutterstock
That said, the aerial views of London are incredible at night, when all you can see are the lights from this massive city. Photo contributor @Zenobillis took this shot, possibly on a DJI Inspire 2+, a drone that gets 16,500 feet with its high-altitude props.
