For a brief period in the early 2000s, former Baltimore Ravens running back Jamal Lewis was regarded as a top-tier player. Furthermore, he was the only Ravens player who had not been charged with two counts of murder (side note: Ray Lewis’ charges were later dismissed).

It turned out that Jamal Lewis was unable to stay out of trouble. Following his nearly unprecedented 2066-yard performance in 2003, the running back faced charges of “conspiracy and possession with intent to distribute cocaine” a year later. Although Lewis was able to elude defenders with his Nike sneakers, he was nevertheless caught by the law and fined $760,000 by the NFL for violating protocol.
