2.This Makes Us So Uncomfortable

Oh my lord, we feel a lot of things we would be better off not feeling about this garment. Though not in an emotive and exciting manner, it gives us goosebumps in a cosmic terror sense; we are afraid of the inexplicable kind of way. The design seems to question not only accepted fashion but also our basic conception of what clothes ought to be. Cutouts’ deliberate placement—or rather, misplacement—creates an uncomfortable visual impact difficult to overlook. We’re not clear who is more responsible here: the person who created this garment or the one who willingly wore it. In any case, we want neither of them to repeat it. Fabric choices and structural decisions taken together seem to defy both logic and aesthetics in equal measure. When you have a tattoo kind of weird right where the hole in your garment is, this is also a fascinating wardrobe option. Like, we find ourselves wanting to centre the tattoo. There is a terrible imbalance. The tattoo placement gives an added layer of frenetic energy to an already confusing outfit, as if the dress was meant especially to generate maximum visual ambiguity. Less haute couture and more haute confusion overall results from this combination, which causes spectators great discomfort that is difficult to shake.
