In order to “demonstrate…the daily collisions” between people’s “inner selves” and the “everyday reality” that results from “urban city living,” McIlvaney took the picture. The picture shows someone unconscious, curled up in a fetal posture, on the sidewalk. The person looks miserable, suffering on the ground by themselves, and it doesn’t appear like anyone is trying to aid them.
