Takashi Furo took this amazing picture for “Your Shot.” This photo was shot during Tokyo’s Mitama Festival, and it shows a small portion of the more than 30,000 lamps that adorn Yasukuni Shrine. Every lantern, glowing with a cozy golden light, holds a hope for world peace.

The Yasukuni Shrine is an essential component of the Mitama Festival, which has been conducted annually for more than 70 years. Emperor Meiji established this Shinto shrine in 1869. It honors the Japanese soldiers who lost their lives in the 1860s and mid-1900s during the Boshin and First Indochina Wars. One potential camera to utilize is the Canon 5D Mark III, which would do a wonderful job of catching the lanterns’ brilliant light in all of its clarity.
