Zaffigani managed to photograph a whale shark that was ambushing a group of fisherman covertly. Despite how frightening this image may be, whale sharks almost ever notice people, much less attempt to devour them. As filter-feeders, they consume small fish and plankton. Most likely, this whale shark approached the boat out of curiosity in the hopes of snagging a snack.
