This one wins hands down. Kourounis snapped his self-portrait while positioned beside the menacing Ambrym volcano. Ambrym is an island in Vanuatu that is home to numerous lava lakes. The gorgeous tropical island is accessible for tours, but be careful not to fall in. The temperature of lava varies between 1,470 and 2,190 degrees Fahrenheit.
