Much Longer Than They Expected

The rescue mission was turning out to be far more challenging and time-consuming than anyone had anticipated. If the dog had been even slightly more trusting, the process could have been quicker and less complicated. But her deep-seated fear and hesitation made every step feel like a delicate balancing act. Each attempt to get closer or gain her trust was met with resistance, as her survival instincts kept her on high alert.

This lack of trust wasn’t surprising, given what she had likely endured in her past, but it made the rescuers’ efforts all the more difficult. They had to remind themselves that patience was key and that earning her trust would take time. While they had hoped for a smoother process, they understood that rushing her would only make things worse. The mission was no longer just about rescuing her—it was about showing her that not all humans were to be feared.
