What Was The House Used For

Mandy couldn’t shake the growing unease that gnawed at her. The gruesome discovery in the vent left her with a troubling question: had their home been used for something sinister in the past? The jars, the bones, the foul smell—it all seemed to point to something far darker than she was prepared to confront. Her mind raced with possibilities. Could this house have been the site of rituals or sacrifices? The very thought made her skin crawl. She turned to James, her voice trembling as she voiced her fears. “What if this place was used for… something horrible? I don’t think I can stay here if that’s true.”
Before they could spiral further into speculation, the maintenance man, who had been assisting the professionals, spoke up. His tone was calm, almost dismissive, as he reassured them. “It’s not as strange as it seems,” he said, shrugging slightly. He explained that old homes like theirs sometimes held odd remnants of the past, often left behind by eccentric previous owners. While unsettling, he insisted that such discoveries didn’t necessarily mean anything sinister had occurred. Despite his words, Mandy still felt a lingering sense of unease. The explanation might have been logical, but it did little to erase the dark shadow that now seemed to hang over their home.
